Dog Training Classes & Individual Sessions

Training your dog can begin when they are as young as 8 weeks old but any dog can learn new tricks! Our staff and dog trainers work with you to help achieve your training goals from walking on a leash, sit, down, stay and advanced level obedience for therapy dogs, AKC Canine Good Citizen, and overcoming problematic behavioral issues.

Your dog will be the happiest (and you'll be happy too) when there is clear understanding of your expectations and boundaries in the house or out for a walk. We utilize a lot of praise, excitement, and fun to get your dog engaged paired with correction for unwanted behaviors. A core foundation of obedience is the stepping stone to managing puppyhood as well as creating confidence in shy or fear aggressive dogs.

We offer several options for dog training. Our group classes are held one night per week at each of our locations. Our individual training is scheduled based on the trainer and your schedule allowing for dedicated one-on-one time for all your questions and problem solving specific to you and your dog's needs.

Group Training Classes

Introduction to Obedience courses run regularly at each location based on enrollment and scheduling. The Intro Course lasts 5 weeks and addresses the basics of walking on a leash, sit, down, stay, and walking through doors politely. Dogs must be leash on regular flat or rope leash and wear a collar or training collar. We educate on proper use of training collar options but do no require any specific training tools. Dogs must be under control (no dog- or human-aggressive dogs are allowed, please consult individual training options.)

A Statement from our Trainer:

I started my career in the pet industry over 4 decades ago.  I have been fortunate to experience just about every facet of all things animals.  From retail, pets and supplies, wholesale pet supplies and food, Veterinary Technician, and of course, pet training.  Other than a 10 year period training Parrots, dogs have always been my passion, mainly obedience and behavior modification.  For the last 8 or so years, in search of continuing education, I have been training my own dogs and competing in the most difficult of dog sports, IGP-Schutzhund.  In that time I been lucky enough to work with several world level trainers and competitors.  Luckily for me I have 2 outstanding dogs who have allowed me to achieve high in Trial Obedience and high in Trial Tracking titles, as well as the 2018 working dog Championship IPO 2 National Champion title.
I try to share as much knowledge as I can to dog owners, so they can bring the clarity of learning to their dogs.  When I started out there was no such thing as on-line certifications, but I am now certified to do Canine Good Citizen evaluations, as well as K-9 Nutrition Specialist.
The training methods I use change from dog to dog, as each one is an individual in what motivates them to learn.  To keep it simple, I use classical conditioning, and operant conditioning, as studies have shown this decades old knowledge creates the easiest way for dogs to learn.

HAPPY TRAINING
